I hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics as much as we are. As a toast to how well Team GB is doing, we have decided to create an Olympics themed quiz that celebrates everything sporty.

1 In which year were the first modern Olympic Games held?
2 In which city were the first modern Olympic Games held?
3 What do the Olympic rings represent?
4 Which city is hosting the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic games?
5 How many sports will there be at the 2012 Olympic games?
6 In which country is the International Olympic Committee headquaters based?
7 What are the names of the London 2012 mascots?
8 During the games, what is the maximum capacity of the Olympic Stadium?
9 What is the full distance of the marathon?
10 When was the Olympic flag first flown?
11 Who banned the Olympic games in 393AD
12 Which Greek God were the Games held in honour of?

Perry Common in 1926!

We at WLCA found this amazing picture of Perry Common in 1926. Uploaded online as part of a project documenting England from above, it is amazing to think how much has changed in 90 years! Gone are the surrounding fields, but The Ring has remained pretty much the same. Let us know your thoughts on how you have seen things changed in the time you have been living in Perry Common.

Welcome to the WLCA blog!

Welcome all to the Witton Lodge Community Association Blog! We have decided to create an online community for everyone affiliated with the society, and for those who live within the Perry Common area. We are planning to upload information on upcoming events, community information and even events in the wider Birmingham area. Also, watch out for pictures and videos that will be coming shortly!

If anyone has anything that they would like to upload online through either this blog or the facebook page, then do not hesitate to contact us. We would love any community stories, events, information or photos that we can then upload, ready for everyone to see!

We also have exciting news for the children of the Perry Common area. We are also planning on creating a young person led blog, through which budding reporters, photographers or even artists can send us their articles etc and we will then post these on the blog. We will also be extending our 'Kidz Corner' page in the Perry Common Matters newsletter, by adding more craft tips, fun days out and much more online!
